Senior Citizen Companionship Program
Senior citizens are national treasures and important visitors to the NPM. To provide more opportunities for seniors to connect with the NPM, the NPM actively collaborates with local and cross-regional institutions including health centers, nursing and long-term care facilities, medical institutions, lifelong learning centers, and senior citizen service stations. Through these partnerships, the NPM offers a series of customized programs tailored to the interests and needs of seniors. These programs feature engaging themes based on artifacts from the NPM’s collection and include a variety of experiential activities such as creative handicraft workshops, artifact replica touching experiences, and guided museum tours.
The NPM has also introduced programs designed specifically for senior participants, “NPM Handicraft Making Workshop for 55+”; “Take a Walk at the NPM: Visitor Route for 55+,”and “Animated Artifacts: Let’s Exercise,”an exercise program inspired by eight classic artifacts from the NPM’s collection. These programs respond to the needs of senior visitors for healthy social interaction and accessibility in museums. The goals are to achieve creative and healthy aging.
